Welcome to the Straumann World Class Cup. A fresh, fun, and entirely new format! Over the course of 4 months, top clinicians from around the globe will compete to present their best clinical cases on the below themes in implant dentistry.
Round 1: Immediacy
Protocols for immediate placement and loading 6-9 September 2022
Round 2: Regenerative
From surgical and flapless periodontal regeneration, bone regeneration, to soft-tissue management and wound care 4–7 October 2022
Round 3: Digital
Workflows for increased accuracy and improved diagnosis, treatment planning and surgical execution 8–11 November 2022
Round 4: Esthetics
Interdisciplinary treatments using dental implants in the esthetics zone 3 December 2022
The Straumann World Class Cup is a global championship among teams and clinicians showcasing their expertise in four important topics in dentistry: Immediacy, Regenerative, Digital and Esthetics. Each team will be composed by four clinicians and each of them will present a clinical case during one of the rounds. A jury of world renowned experts will score all the speeches and the public voting can add additional points to determine the best of each round and the finalists.
A Hybrid innovate event
All the rounds will be virtual. In the final championship round ESTHETICS the four highest ranked teams will compete face to face in Palma de Mallorca in December to determine the winner of the Straumann World Class Cup. Great prizes will be awarded throughout this event!
Bilal Al-Nawas is qualified in medicine and dentistry (universities Frankfurt and Saarbrücken, Germany). Since 2017 Bilal Al-Nawas is Head of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Plastic Surgery, University Medical Center of the J. Gutenberg University, Mainz, Germany. Since September 2009 Adjunctive Associate Professor at Kyung Hee University School of Dentistry, Seoul, Korea. His clinical activity covers the full spectrum of oral and maxillofacial surgery and is dedicated to rehabilitation of compromised patients. He published over 150 publications in peer-reviewed journals. He is a Fellow of the ITI Section Germany, Education Delegate, member of the Research Committee and since 2018 Member of the ITI Board of Directors.
France Lambert Jury
France Emmanuelle Lambert is the Head of the Department of Periodontology and Oral Surgery at the Universitaire de Liège Faculté de Médecine where she is also an Assistant Professor. She obtained her DDS degree and PhD in Dental Medicine and Biomaterials from Universitaire de Liège Faculté de Médecine. She received her Postgraduate Training from Universitaire de Liège Faculté de Médecine and University of Washington School of Dentistry, where she also completed her Fellowship. She is the President of Belgische Vereniging Parodontologie and a Fellow of International Team for Implantology. Dr. Lambert has published articles in peer viewed journals.

Anton Sculean Jury
Anton Sculean is professor and chairman of the Department of Periodontology and currently the Executive Director of the School of Dental Medicine, University of Berne, Switzerland. He qualified in 1990 at the Semmelweis University in Budapest, Hungary and has received his postgraduate training at the Universities Münster, Germany and Royal Dental College Aarhus, Denmark. He received his Habilitation (Ph.D.) at the University of Saarland, Homburg, Germany. From 2004 to 2008 he was appointed as Head of the Department of Periodontology and Program Director of the EFP accredited postgraduate program at the Radboud University in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. In December 2008, he was appointed Professor and Chairman of the Department of Periodontology of the University of Bern, Switzerland.
Martina Stefanini Jury
Graduated in 2005 from the University of Bologna, Italy with a degree in dentistry. In 2016 she was awarded PhD in Medical Sciences from the University of Bologna, Italy. Since 2018 researcher at the Bologna University, ITI Fellow, and Study Club Director. Since 2012 active member of the Italian Society of Periodontology (SIDP) Since 2005 to date dental surgeon in private practice as expert in periodontology. Author of several peer reviewed publications. Co-Author of a chapter within the book “Implant Therapy” edited by M. Nevins and H. L. Wang. Speaker at national and international conferences on periodontology.
Leon Pariente Jury
Leon Pariente earned his DDS degree from the University of Paris René Descartes, in 2009. He enrolled at New York University College of Dentistry in the Advanced Program for International Dentists in Implant Dentistry (graduated 2012). After returning to Paris, his private practice is limited to Implantology and Periodontology. He is also working as a part-time member of the faculty in the Implant Department at the University Paris V. He co-authored several international and national publications on implant dentistry and is currently involved in several research projects at the University of Paris René Descartes on immediate implant placement and sinus lift procedures.

Andre Chen Jury
Degree in Dental Medicine at the School of Dental Medicine, University of Lisbon in 2004. Postgraduate in Oral Surgery at the School of Dental Medicine, University of Lisbon (2008/2011). Master Science in Bone Regeneration (Msc-School of Dental Medicine, University of Lisbon). Exclusive private clinical practice at the Implantology Institute in Surgery, Implantology and Oral Rehabilitation since 2004. Assistant of the Implantology Department of the School of Dental Medicine, University of Lisbon. Member of the Portuguese Dental Association. Author and co-author of several communications, posters and other national and international publications. Private clinic in Lisbon.
Krzysztof Chmielewski Jury
Kris Chmielewski graduated Medical Academy in Gdansk in 1993. From 1996 he runs his own private clinic dedicated to implantology and aesthetic treatment. He is an international speaker in the field of implantology and bone regeneration, esthetic treatment and dental photography. Kris is Co-Founder and Past President of Polish Academy of Esthetic Dentistry and author / contributor of the books "Guided Surgery", ITI Treatment Guide 11(Quintessence 2019), Dental Photography (Quintessence 2016). Kris is visiting Lecturer in W.Goethe University in Frankfurt (MOI Program) and educational Director of Dental Photo Master. He has a special interest in Guided Surgery and digital workflows in implantology with focus on complex cases rehabilitation, and is a coDiagnostiX® and Implant Studio certified Instructor
Tim Joda Jury
Tim Joda hold a position of Head of Dental eHealth & Digital Dentistry Center of Dental Medicine, Clinic of Reconstructive Dentistry Prof. Joda is trained and Board Certified as Specialist in Prosthodontics, Implant Dentistry, and Periodontology, and has gained an MSc Degree in Prosthetic Dentistry & Biomaterials. He holds the Venia Legendi in Reconstructive Dentistry & Implant Therapy. Prof. Joda was a Visiting Professor at Harvard School of Dental Medicine Boston/ USA in 2014 and has been appointed as Visiting Professor at the University of Siena/ Italy since 2016. His main clinical interests are fixed implant treatments and structuring treatment protocols. He received several peer-reviewed research grants as principal investigator as well as national and international research prizes.

Laurence Adriaens Jury
Degree in Dentistry, University of Ghent, Belgium. Master Degree of Advanced Studies in Periodontology, University of Berne, Switzerland. Specialist in Periodontology recognized by the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP). ITI Fellow since 2008 and ITI Study Club Director since 2009 in Palma de Mallorca. Publications in national and international dental journals. Oral and poster presentations in national and international dental meetings. Co-director of the official Journal of SEPA (Sociedad Española de Periodoncia y Osteointegración) published 3 times a year. Founding member of WIN group (Women Implantology Network) since 2016. Owner of private practice in Palma de Mallorca, working as a specialist in Periodontology and Implantology.
Edmond Bedrossian Jury
Edmond Bedrossian graduated from the University of San Francisco in 1981. He completed his training in 1986 at the University of The Pacific, School of Dentistry and completed a four-year Oral & Maxillofacial Residency training program at the Alameda Medical Center. In addition to private practice, Dr. Bedrossian is recognized as an expert in the field of dental implants and has given numerous presentations on the subject both nationally and internationally between 2004 and the present. He has also led several long-running study clubs related to this topic. In addition, he has lectured internationally with Professor Brånemark on various topics, especially the rehabilitation of patients with maxillofacial defects.
Stefan Röhling Jury
Stefan Röhling received his dental degree from the Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich, Germany, in 2009. Between 2007 and 2009 he has worked for AO Research Institute, Davos, Switzerland. Currently he is leading a private practice in Munich, Germany and working at the University Hospital, Basel, Switzerland. Dr. Röhling is a speaker for the International Team for Implantology and since 2006 he has been involved in many experimental and clinical studies dealing with zirconia dental implants. As first and co-author, he has published many journal articles dealing with ceramic implants and he is also first author of a book chapter dealing with dental implant surfaces.
At the end of the 1st week of the round Jury select 4 best cases of the week
During the 2nd week of the round (from Monday to Sunday) public votes for the winner of the round and the general classification
In the 3rd week the general classificationvotes of the Jury merges with public voting in 50/50 weight, and results are announced
Round 4 (Finals)
The voting time is available on December 3rd from 13:15-15.30 PM (CET) on the platform.
The Awards Ceremony will be streamed live on December 3rd from 17:05-17:25 PM (CET).
Prizes & Winning Criteria
The top 4 ranked teams from the SWCC will compete face-to-face in Palma de Mallorca on December 3rd to determine the SWCC winners.
The top 4 cases will be presented at a special SWCC ceremony held during the International Esthetic Days congress.
The winners can choose among a series of prizes that might include a VirtuoVivo, a donation to an NGO focused on supporting dental causes or an ITI/IMD course.
